Community Councils
Community Councils are made up of members of the local community and express the views and concerns of local people on a wide range of issues. Community Councils are involved with the Area Partnerships, and can be a voice for local people in local decision making.

Area Partnerships
Area Partnerships represent the voice of local communities in decisions relating to the each Area Plan. They have a budget and administrative support from East Lothian Council.

Other Political and Governmental Organisations
Kenny MacAskill is the MP for East Lothian, representing the area at Westminster. Your local MP covers issues reserved to Westminster such as immigration, consumer protection issues and broadcasting.
Colin Beattie MSP is the MSP for Midlothian North and Musselburgh, covering the Musselburgh, Wallyford and Whitecraig areas in the Scottish Parliament.
East Lothian Council is the Local Authority for East Lothian, and is broken down into six wards. East Lothian Council is responsible for delivering services in areas such as: domestic waste and recycling, birth, marriage and death registration, Council Tax and benefits, countryside and wildlife emergencies, housing, libraries, licensing, schools, and social care.
